Kolkata: Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday said his govt would introduce a transparent recruitment system across all recruiting agencies, beginning with the School Service Commission (SSC), which is now headed by former chief secretary Dushyant Nariala.Addressing the Rojgar Mela programme, Adhikari said the SSC would follow the UPSC model by appointing non-political persons to oversee recruitment. He alleged that recruiting agencies had become “messy” under the previous govt and were plagued by corruption.The CM also outlined his govt’s employment and industrial growth plans, with a focus on MSMEs, entrepreneurship and market-driven skill development. He said greater emphasis would be placed on vocational education to equip young people for jobs in the private sector.Highlighting the state’s untapped potential in food processing, Adhikari said Bengal had abundant raw materials, from pineapple to cashew, but the sector had not been nurtured. He announced special incentives and said, “There will be security free loans for those who want to make a career in the food processing industry and thus they can own a small business.”Adhikari also said the previous regime had failed to implement the Vishwakarma Yojana, leaving around 8.6 lakh applications pending. He claimed the present BJP govt had cleared all pending applications within the past 10 weeks and reiterated that employment generation remained one of its top priorities.
